![]() ![]() Is it a musthave in everyone’s collection? Absolutely not.Picture this: you're having a fun day at the zoo, looking at the animals, and you notice that wow, there just happen to be quite a lot of super sexy guys around today! Well, this fun scenario soon turns to disaster in Blush Blush. Also if you are into a creams and liquids only look this could be a good addition to try something new. This is probably best for people who don’t wear much base makeup as this has the potential to mess up the rest of the look. It is a product that is definitely on trend, it works well in the end and it can be pretty if you like that no makeup makeup look. I mean at this price point, you can barely do something wrong. Would I recommend the Essence Color Changing blush oil? If you are looking for that barely there, PH blush trend and you want to do it on the cheap, then this is a good one to give it a try. Does it look pretty once applied? For sure, but the texture means this won’t work well if you have oily skin (because this stays feeling oily) and it can break up your foundation underneath. I think it is too much of a faff to use and a bit cumbersome. While I like they are trying to do something new, this isn’t going to be a product that will end up in my everyday makeup routine. The Essence Color Changing blush oil is a product that is part gimmick, part pretty cool. Depsite there being several challenges on the application front, this can look good, but it does take some effort and carefulness to get it there. If you are looking for that flushed, just in from the cold kind of look then this blush is a good one for the price point. It has a pretty glow from the oily texture and the shade that shows up is that pretty super pink vibe. It is giving me Dior Rosy Glow vibes when it’s on. How does this apply to the cheeks?īut when you apply it and you get it there? Then it is a very pretty looking product indeed. And as you can see here, the blush takes a while to show up, so this makes it again a tricker product to use. Any powdery texture will make this look cakey and quite messy as the oil particles adhere to the powder and make it look clumpy. It is more successful when applied over product, but it is best when applied over just foundation or concealer that isn’t too matte. ![]() Because of the oil texture it can be difficult to use this under makeup as much makeup breaks up that way. Creams and liquids can often be used over other makeup products, but many can be best used underneath. The real downside to this product? The fact that it is an oil based product. This could make the product a bit difficult to use, but if you’re careful you will be able to make it work for sure. By the time this turns color it’s already too late and you can no longer adjust it. So far so good, the only problem is, because this goes on clear at first you can’t see where you put it, how much you’ve put in one place and whether you are effectively blending it out. It goes on clear at first, reacts with your skin’s PH levels and then changes color to a brighter pink hue. The blue tint of the product disappears when you apply it. So this blush oil comes with a doe foot applicator and luckily once the product is out of the tube it is clear. So this could go wrong on three levels, and let me tell you: it’s not as bad as it looks. Now there seem to be quite a few ‘cool’ brands that do these PH reactive cheek and lip products now, so I can definitely see that Essence is trying to hop on the trend with this. So I have heard and tried color changing lip colors plenty of time. But whichever way it goes, for a price like this, I don’t mind giving it a shot. At this price point you cannot find many products and Essence is actually good at doing blushes, but their cream and liquid offerings have been limited so I cannot be 100% sure right away that this will be a good product. At just €2.95 this is an affordable blush no matter which way it goes. This being an Essence product we know it is going to be affordable. Review: Essence Change Your Cheek Game Color Changing blush oil This could either be great, or it could be a marvelously terrible product. Let that sink in for a minute: a color changing, blue toned, blush oil. And so I was skeptical to say the least when I saw that as part of their Fall/ Winter 2022 update, the brand would be releasing a color changing blush oil. But Essence can sometimes go a bit too far with their innovations and end up making a gimmick. I mean, I don’t mind a bit of innovation when it comes to makeup products. Oh boy oh boy… What Essence has in store for us this round was quite a… questionable blush option. ![]()
